Introduction

AssiduousEngine is a C++23 game engine and editor, built entirely with C++ modules. The editor, the asset pipeline and the tools take a game from its first scene to a shipped build, and a game exports to a desktop player for Windows and Linux, to the browser (WebAssembly with WebGPU) and to the Steam Deck.

A game made with it gets:

  • Rendering over Vulkan, WebGPU and Direct3D 12: forward PBR with clustered lights, shadows, image-based lighting and a full post-processing stack.
  • Gameplay systems: physics, navigation, audio, input, networking, skeletal animation with graphs and IK, particles, terrain and vegetation.
  • Scripting in AngelScript or Luau, with a debugger in the editor.
  • UI styled with CSS, for menus, HUDs and in-world panels.

AI agents can build games with it too. An MCP host gives an agent the engine’s reflection, its script API, the project’s operations and play in editor, so it can make a game, change it and playtest it as a person does in the editor. The five sample games and the Shader Gallery in the engine’s repository were built that way, and you can play them in your browser.

The engine is MIT licensed. The AssiduousEngine name and logo are not: they identify the project and may be shown unchanged to refer to it.
